As an Archiving Specialist, you will oversee the lifecycle of both physical and digital records, implement metadata standards, and drive initiatives to modernize preservation workflows.
Location: New York, NY. This is a full-time, on-site role with flexibility for occasional remote tasks.
Responsibility
- Develop and maintain robust archival systems for physical and digital collections
- Capture, classify, and index records using metadata standards (MARC, Dublin Core, EAD)
- Oversee digitization projects, quality control, and long-term digital preservation
- Manage access controls, retention schedules, and compliance with legal and institutional policies
- Collaborate with library and IT teams to integrate archival assets into discovery platforms
- Provide guidance and training to staff on archival workflows and metadata best practices
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Information Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in archival management, preferably in a cultural heritage or corporate setting
- Strong knowledge of metadata standards (MARC, Dublin Core, EAD) and archival workflows
- Experience with digitization, imaging, and digital preservation strategies
- Proficiency with archival management systems (AMS), CMS, and discovery platforms
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
