Quill & Compass Creative is seeking a seasoned Creative Writer to join our dynamic team in Portland, OR. We craft evocative content for brands, publications, and digital platforms. You will collaborate with editors, designers, and marketing leads to deliver compelling narratives across formats, from feature articles to branded copy and short-form social content.

Responsibility
- Research, brainstorm, and write original articles, essays, branded copy, and long-form features in alignment with brand voice and audience intent.
- Develop story ideas, outlines, and editorial calendars; manage multiple projects with tight yet realistic deadlines.
- Edit and polish drafts for clarity, grammar, style, and tone; provide constructive feedback to contributors and junior teammates.
- Collaborate with editors, designers, and marketers to adapt content for web, print, and social media channels.
- Optimize content for readability, SEO, and user engagement; monitor performance and iterate based on analytics.
- Contribute to content strategy by proposing innovative storytelling formats and formats to expand audience reach.
- Maintain and enforce brand voice and style guidelines across all materials and platforms.
Qualification
- 3+ years of professional writing experience with a strong portfolio across articles, features, and branded content.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to adapt voice for multiple brands.
- Experience with SEO best practices and content optimization; familiarity with content management systems (preferably WordPress) and basic HTML.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong research skills and curiosity, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging narratives.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; comfortable working with cross-functional teams including editors, designers, and developers.
