Private Advertiser is seeking a skilled Electrician to join our marine operations team in Manila. This role supports vessels engaged in Bulk Carrier and General Cargo Coaster Trade operations, delivering reliable electrical performance across shipboard systems. Ideal candidates have hands-on experience maintaining electrical installations in challenging maritime environments and a commitment to safety and reliability.
As an Electrician, you will inspect, repair, and install electrical equipment on board, including generators, switchboards, motors, lighting, instrumentation, and control panels. You will diagnose faults using test equipment, interpret wiring diagrams, and perform preventive maintenance to prevent unexpected breakdowns. You will collaborate with the engineering and deck teams to plan work, execute repairs, and document all activities in maintenance logs, ensuring compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, and company procedures.
This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work in confined spaces and variable weather conditions. Strong communication, teamwork, and a proactive approach to safety are essential. You may be assigned to vessels for rotation crews, with opportunities to advance to senior electrical roles as you gain experience aboard modern fleets.
We offer a competitive monthly salary in PHP, PHP 22,000 to PHP 42,000, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits and professional development opportunities. Responsibility
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on board vessels, including generators, switchboards, motors, lighting, instrumentation, and control panels.
- Install and modify electrical equipment in accordance with technical drawings and engineering instructions.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of electrical installations to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose faults using multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools; document findings and recommended actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company procedures; participate in safety drills.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inventory of spare parts; coordinate with crew to minimize disruption.
- Assist in electrical system upgrades or modernization projects and contribute to continuous improvement.
Qualification
- Electrician trade certificate or licensed electrician with relevant maritime or industrial experience.
- Proven experience with shipboard electrical systems (generators, switchboards, motors, instrumentation).
- Proficient in reading electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and risk assessment; ability to apply lockout/tagout procedures.
- Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and good communication skills.
- Physical fitness to work in confined spaces and variable conditions; willingness to work shifts and travel onboard vessels.
- Team player with safety-first mindset; able to collaborate with engine room and deck crews.
