Join our premier fisheries team, focused on sustainable practices, cutting-edge research, and responsible aquaculture development in the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a driven Fisheries Scientist to advance stock assessments, habitat monitoring, and policy-aligned practices.
As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will design field studies, manage data pipelines, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for stakeholders including regulators, industry partners, and local communities.
Responsibility
- Plan and execute field sampling campaigns for wild and farmed stocks.
- Design and implement data collection, QA/QC, and statistical analyses.
- Lead stock assessments, biomass estimation, and monitoring of ecosystem health.
- Coordinate with field teams, laboratories, and partner organizations.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and policy briefs for stakeholders.
- Support biosecurity and sustainability initiatives; ensure compliance with regulations.
- Contribute to grant writing and project proposals; manage project timelines and budgets.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Oceanography, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in fisheries research, stock assessment, or aquaculture.
- Strong quantitative skills including statistics, and proficiency in Python or R.
- Experience with GIS, data visualization, QA/QC, and database management.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and biosecurity best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex science to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to work in field conditions and travel as needed.
- Proven project management experience and ability to multitask across priorities.
