Job description

At NorthLeaf Forestry Group, we design and implement sustainable forest management programs across the Pacific Northwest. We’re seeking a results-oriented Forestry Project Manager to lead field operations, coordinate timber harvesting planning, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.

Responsibility

  • Lead and oversee forestry operations, contract crews, and field teams to meet project milestones on time and on budget.
  • Develop and implement harvesting plans, road layouts, and silvicultural prescriptions in collaboration with foresters and GIS specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, worker safety standards, and company sustainability policies.
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and regulatory agencies to address permitting and reporting requirements.
  • Manage project budgets, procurement, and contractor performance analytics to optimize resource use.
  • Utilize GIS and data analytics to monitor stand health, growth projections, and carbon accounting.
  • Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and final deliverables for clients and leadership.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of project management experience in forestry, timber harvesting, or conservation programs.
  • Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and forest inventory data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, export/import timber policies, and environmental compliance (FSC or PEFC familiarity a plus).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites, travel to field locations, and adapt to remote work conditions.
  • Certification in SAF or SFI, or willingness to pursue; strong safety mindset (OSHA/WHMIS).
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills are an asset.
