Join Apex Metalworks, a leader in precision metal fabrication and automated production lines, as an Industrial Production Engineer in Houston, TX. You will drive lean initiatives, optimize throughput, and elevate quality across 24/7 manufacturing operations.
In this role, you’ll partner with engineering, maintenance, sourcing, and production teams to deliver measurable improvements in OEE, cycle times, scrap reduction, and cost per unit. We value hands-on problem solving, data-driven decision making, and a passion for scalable processes.
Responsibility
- Lead and optimize end-to-end production processes to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Analyze performance data, identify bottlenecks, and implement Lean manufacturing improvements.
- Collaborate with maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and high OEE across all lines.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Support capacity planning, production scheduling, and line balancing to meet demand.
- Lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects using Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards; drive a culture of problem-solving and accountability.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 3-7 years of hands-on production/manufacturing experience in a high-volume facility.
- Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), and continuous improvement tools.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar).
- Familiarity with automation, PLCs, or process control systems is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and influence without authority.
