Job description

NovaTech Industries is seeking a seasoned Industrial Relations Manager to lead and optimize our labor relations strategy across multiple facilities in the Chicago area. This role partners with HR, operations, and the executive team to foster constructive employee relations, manage collective bargaining agreements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

In this role you will influence organization-wide policies, coach leadership on grievance handling, and drive proactive programs that reduce risk while improving productivity and engagement. You will report to the VP of Human Resources and collaborate with unions, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams to support business goals.

Responsibility

  • Develop and implement labor relations strategies that support business goals while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Lead negotiations for collective bargaining agreements with unions, including preparing negotiation briefs, modeling financial impacts, and achieving favorable terms.
  • Advise site leaders on employee relations issues, investigations, performance management, and grievance resolution with fairness and consistency.
  • Collaborate with HR, legal, safety, and operations to design and implement policies that reduce risk and improve productivity.
  • Manage grievance processes, escalation procedures, and disciplinary actions with thorough documentation and timely follow-through.
  • Monitor labor market trends, regulatory changes, and risk exposures; provide proactive recommendations and strategic guidance to leadership.
  • Drive employee engagement and change management initiatives during restructures, site expansions, or process changes.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Law, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in labor or industrial relations with demonstrated success in collective bargaining and complex investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of NLRA or relevant local labor laws and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong interviewing and investigative abilities.
  • Experience with data analysis, policy interpretation, and HRIS systems; proficient in documentation and reporting.
  • Willingness to travel to regional sites as required and maintain discretion handling confidential information.
