Responsibility

  • Lead the development, calibration, and validation of numerical weather prediction models and data assimilation workflows.
  • Design experiments, analyze meteorological datasets, and produce reliable forecast products for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with data science, software engineering, and operations teams to deploy forecast tools and dashboards.
  • Manage research projects, write proposals, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and present results at conferences.
  • Mentor junior scientists and provide training on modeling tools, coding practices, and data visualization.
  • Communicate complex results clearly to non-technical audiences, including policymakers and emergency management partners.

Qualification

  • PhD or Master’s degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a closely related field; PhD preferred for senior role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, or atmospheric research.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, SciPy), R; Fortran/C++ experience is a plus.
  • Experience with WRF/WRF-ARW, ECMWF or other operational global models, and HPC environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and run experiments, analyze large datasets, and communicate results effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with version control (Git), software development best practices, and cloud computing is a plus.
