Policy Insight Group is seeking a highly motivated Policy Analyst to join our Washington, DC team. This role focuses on rigorous policy research, legislative tracking, and strategic client counsel across federal and state levels. You will collaborate with senior researchers, government affairs professionals, and communications teams to shape insights that influence public policy and public discourse.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical abilities with outstanding communication skills and a passion for public service.
Responsibility
- Conduct in-depth policy research and legislative monitoring across federal and state levels
- Analyze data, prepare briefings, memos, and policy impact assessments
- Develop plain-language policy summaries for clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate with researchers, communications, and government affairs teams to inform strategy
- Prepare testimony, talking points, and op-eds with evidence-based findings
- Manage multiple research projects, meet deadlines, and maintain documentation
- Engage with external stakeholders, including think tanks, NGOs, and policymakers, to gather insights
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, economics, or related field; master's preferred
- 2-4 years of policy research, government affairs, or legislative analysis experience
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in data interpretation
- Excellent written and verbal communication, ability to translate complex topics
- Experience with policy databases, legislative tracking tools, and bibliographic management
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with DC political landscape and federal processes is a plus
