Join SummitRoad Constructors, a premier civil contractor delivering major road and highway projects across the Southwest. We are seeking a results-driven Road Construction Project Manager to oversee planning, execution, safety, and quality on our upcoming highway improvement project in the Phoenix area.

In this role, you will coordinate engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and city/state stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery while upholding the highest safety and quality standards. You will lead with integrity, communicate clearly, and drive a culture of excellence on the worksite.

Responsibility

  • Lead daily on-site operations for road construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and safety targets.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, including scope, schedules, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Oversee quality control and assurance programs, inspections, tests, and compliance with DOT standards (MUTCD, FHWA).
  • Coordinate with design engineers, surveyors, inspectors, and subcontractors; manage procurement and subcontractor performance.
  • Implement and enforce site safety plans; conduct toolbox talks; ensure OSHA compliance and incident reporting.
  • Manage traffic control plans, detours, and public communication to minimize disruption and ensure public safety.
  • Prepare and manage change orders, cost tracking, and project reporting to stakeholders; maintain accurate documentation.
  • Lead handover activities, as-builts, warranties, and project close-out with clients and agencies.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent field experience.
  • 5+ years of road construction or heavy civil project management experience, with a track record of successful highway projects.
  • Strong understanding of earthworks, paving, drainage, signaling, and structural components in road projects.
  • Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6) and proficiency in reading plans, specs, and QA/QC documentation.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills; able to coordinate multiple teams and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, MUTCD standards, and safety best practices; OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills; ability to present complex information to clients and regulators.
  • Proven budget management, change order control, and procurement experience; strong decision-making under pressure.
