Job description
Join our London-based team as a Senior Applied Mathematician. You will translate advanced mathematical theory into practical, scalable models powering our AI, optimization, and data science initiatives. This role blends research excellence with real-world impact, requiring collaboration with software engineers and data scientists to deliver reproducible, production-grade solutions.
We value curiosity, rigorous thinking, and strong communication skills. A PhD in Mathematics or a related field is preferred, with a track record of impactful research and its translation into practice.
Responsibility
- Lead the development of mathematical models and algorithms to solve complex real-world problems in finance, optimization, or AI.
- Design and conduct rigorous experiments to validate models, with emphasis on reproducibility and robust statistical methods.
- Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to implement models in production-grade systems.
- Assess model performance, perform error analysis, and iterate on design based on results.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a culture of scientific rigor.
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders with clear, actionable insights.
Qualification
- PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field; or a Master's with extensive research experience.
- Strong research background with high-quality publications and presentations.
- Proficiency in Python (NumPy, SciPy), MATLAB, Julia, or R; experience with optimization libraries and numerical methods.
- Solid knowledge of numerical analysis, stochastic processes, linear algebra, and differential equations.
- Experience with HPC, software development best practices, version control (Git), and CI/CD.
- Excellent communication and ability to translate complex ideas to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
