NovaQuant Analytics is seeking a Senior Applied Statistician to join our Boston data science team. This role blends rigorous statistical methodology with business impact, delivering actionable insights for health, finance, or consumer analytics projects.
You will design studies, build predictive models, and collaborate with product, engineering, and leadership to translate data into strategic decisions. The role emphasizes reproducibility, robust validation, and clear communication of complex results to stakeholders.
Responsibility
- Lead development of statistical models and experimental design for complex datasets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineering, product, and leadership to define study objectives and success metrics.
- Conduct rigorous hypothesis testing, power analysis, and validation to ensure results are robust.
- Implement and compare modeling approaches including regression, Bayesian methods, and machine learning to inform decisions.
- Communicate results via clear dashboards and presentations to non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in statistics and reproducibility.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy standards and ethical considerations in all analyses.
- Manage multiple projects with timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
Qualification
- Master's or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or related field; PhD preferred for senior level.
- 5+ years of applied statistics, data science, or analytics experience; industry experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in R and Python; SAS experience is a plus.
- Expertise in experimental design, A/B testing, power analysis, and Bayesian statistics.
- Proficiency with SQL and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience building and validating predictive models and applying statistics to business decisions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong project management and mentorship abilities with a track record of delivering results.
