Job description

Epoch Archive Solutions is seeking a results-driven Senior Archivist to lead our digital and physical archive programs for institutional clients in New York City. You will architect preservation strategies, oversee metadata creation, and ensure meaning and accessibility across decades of records.

In this role you will collaborate with librarians, curators, IT staff, and legal/compliance teams to safeguard critical information while enabling responsible access for research, government requests, and enterprise operations.

This is a hands on leadership position ideal for a professional who thrives in fast paced environments and values meticulous organization, rigorous standards, and scalable processes.

Responsibility

  • Develop and lead archival programs for digital and physical collections, aligning with client needs and regulatory requirements
  • Design and implement metadata schemas using standards such as Dublin Core, EAD, and PREMIS
  • Oversee digitization projects, quality assurance, and long term preservation planning
  • Manage accessioning, cataloging, appraisal, deaccessioning, and rights management workflows
  • Lead projects with cross functional teams, set timelines, and monitor progress using project management tools
  • Establish governance for information access, privacy, and security across archiving operations
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior archivists and support staff
  • Contribute to policy development, risk assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualification

  • Master's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, Information Management, or a related field; MLIS preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of professional archival experience with a focus on digital and physical collections
  • Strong knowledge of metadata standards Dublin Core EAD PREMIS and related schemas
  • Hands on experience with digital preservation tools and workflows including Archivematica or similar systems
  • Proficiency in archival appraisal, rights management, and records governance
  • Project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication collaboration and organizational skills with attention to detail
