Nebula Forge Studios is seeking a Senior Gameplay Engineer to lead the development of immersive, real-time experiences for PC and console. This role blends creative gameplay design with engineering excellence to ship high-fidelity titles that captivate players worldwide.
Based in Seattle, this is an opportunity to shape core gameplay systems, performance pipelines, and tooling in a collaborative, studio-driven environment.
Responsibility
- Design and implement scalable gameplay systems for cross-platform titles using Unreal Engine 4/5 and Unity.
- Collaborate with designers to translate concepts into robust, measurable gameplay features and player experiences.
- Optimize performance across PC and console platforms through profiling, memory management, and GPU/CPU strategies.
- Architect and implement reliable networking for real-time multiplayer, including client-server state replication and latency compensation.
- Own code quality through reviews, testing, documentation, and maintainable architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to coding standards and development best practices.
- Collaborate with artists and tool developers to integrate assets, shaders, and gameplay systems.
- Iterate rapidly based on playtests, telemetry, and player feedback to ship features on schedule.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; 5+ years of professional gameplay programming experience.
- Proficiency with Unreal Engine 4/5 and Unity; strong object-oriented design and C++/C# skills.
- Deep understanding of AI, animation, physics, networking, and gameplay systems.
- Experience with multi-threaded programming, profiling, and performance optimization.
- Strong shader experience (HLSL/GLSL) and rendering pipeline knowledge.
- Shipping at least one title or contributed to a multiplayer title; familiarity with CI/CD and Git workflows.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities; comfortable in a fast-paced studio environment.
