Senior Gardener at PT Alfred and Cie
Join PT Alfred and Cie, a respected name in garden design and landscape maintenance based in Bali. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Gardener to manage and elevate outdoor spaces for private estates, commercial properties, and resort landscapes on the island of Bali.
This role blends hands on horticulture with leadership, ensuring healthy plantings, efficient irrigation, pest management, and sustainable soil care. You will collaborate with the landscape team to deliver beautiful and functional outdoor spaces that reflect client aesthetics and environmental commitments.
Key responsibilities include planning seasonal plantings, supervising junior gardeners, and maintaining safety and quality standards across all tasks. The ideal candidate has solid experience in garden maintenance, strong plant knowledge, and the ability to manage time and resources effectively. Overtime is available when required with additional compensation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily garden maintenance including pruning, weeding, mowing, bed preparation and seasonal planting
- Plan and execute planting schemes, color palettes, and seasonal displays to enhance curb appeal
- Manage irrigation systems, water efficiency, drainage, and soil moisture management
- Monitor plant health and diagnose issues; apply approved fertilizers and pest control measures using integrated pest management
- Maintain and repair garden equipment; coordinate with technicians for timely servicing
- Lead and mentor junior gardeners; assign tasks, review work, and ensure safe operating practices
- Ensure safety, health, and environmental compliance; document inspections and incident reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional gardening or horticulture experience; supervisory experience is preferred
- Diploma or certificate in horticulture, landscape maintenance, or a related field is a plus
- Knowledge of tropical plants common to Bali; ability to identify pests and diseases
- Proficiency with irrigation systems, fertigation, mulching, and composting; ability to operate garden machinery
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in a tropical climate; ability to lift heavy loads
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with clients and colleagues; English proficiency preferred
- Valid driver's license and experience operating standard garden equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers)
