We are seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to design and develop engaging, assessment-driven e-learning for K-12 and higher education audiences. This role blends instructional design theory with hands-on development to deliver scalable curricula and learning experiences that meet diverse learner needs.
Based in Boston with hybrid flexibility, you will partner with subject matter experts, educators, and product teams to translate learning objectives into compelling courses, modules, and assessments. You will champion accessibility, mobile-friendly design, and data-driven iteration to ensure learning impact across platforms.
Responsibility
- Lead the end-to-end design of innovative e-learning courses and micro-learning modules for K-12 and higher education audiences.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, designers, and engineers to translate objectives into engaging content and experiences.
- Develop clear learning objectives, storyboards, assessments, and rubrics aligned to standards and outcomes.
- Ensure accessibility (WCAG 2.1+) and responsive design across devices and platforms.
- Manage project timelines, design reviews, version control, and quality assurance processes.
- Analyze learner data and feedback to iterate and improve course effectiveness and engagement.
- Build and maintain a scalable design system with reusable learning objects and templates.
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to team knowledge through best-practice sharing.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of instructional design experience for K-12 or higher education settings.
- Proficiency with authoring tools (Articulate 360, Storyline, Captivate) and LMS platforms (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard).
- Strong knowledge of ADDIE, SAM, and other instructional design methodologies; expert in assessment design.
- Proven ability to design accessible, inclusive learning experiences and apply universal design for learning (UDL) principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
- Data-driven mindset with experience in usability testing and learning analytics.
- Portfolio demonstrating successful coursework, modules, and instructional design impact.
