Apex Weather Analytics is seeking a Senior Meteorologist to drive high-impact forecasting and data-driven weather insights for diverse clients including aviation, agriculture, and emergency management.
You will design and evaluate forecast models, translate complex meteorological data into actionable guidance, and collaborate with software and data science teams to deliver robust weather solutions.
Qualifications include strong background in numerical weather prediction, experience with Python or R, and a track record of clear communication with non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibility
- Lead the development and evaluation of deterministic and ensemble forecasts for selected regions
- Analyze meteorological data from weather models, observations, and satellites to improve forecast accuracy
- Produce daily and event-based weather briefings for clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with product and software teams to implement weather features in analytics platforms
- Contribute to climate and risk assessment studies and publish findings when appropriate
- Communicate weather risk and uncertainty effectively to non-technical stakeholders
- Mentor junior meteorologists and provide training on best practices in forecasting
Qualification
- Master's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, or a related field (PhD preferred)
- 5+ years of professional forecasting experience, preferably in aviation, agriculture, or emergency management
- Strong proficiency with numerical weather prediction models (GFS, ECMWF, GEFS) and forecast tools
- Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and visualization; experience with MATLAB is a plus
- Experience with GIS and weather visualization platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to diverse audiences
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
