We are seeking a Senior Water and Sanitation Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary teams, design and implement WASH interventions, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with international standards. The ideal candidate will drive outcomes in urban water supply, wastewater management, and community engagement, delivering resilient systems that improve health and livelihoods.
As a trusted leader, you will collaborate with municipal authorities, utilities, and donors to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, monitor performance, and advocate for equitable access to safe water and sanitation services.
Responsibility
- Direct project planning, execution, and monitoring for water supply, sanitation, and wastewater projects in urban and peri-urban settings.
- Manage multi-donor grants, budgets, procurement, and compliance with donor and local regulatory requirements.
- Lead design and technical quality assurance of engineering solutions, including networks, pumping stations, and small-scale treatment facilities.
- Coordinate with government agencies, utilities, and communities to ensure inclusive stakeholder engagement and beneficiary feedback mechanisms.
- Develop risk registers, mitigations, and contingency plans to ensure project resilience.
- Build and supervise diverse teams, mentor local engineers, and mainstream gender, climate, and sustainability considerations.
- Oversee monitoring and evaluation, data management, and reporting to stakeholders on progress, milestones, and impact.
- Champion water safety, environmental compliance, and sustainable operation and maintenance planning.
Qualification
- Bachelorâs degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or a related field; Masterâs degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 yearsâ experience delivering WASH projects, including urban water supply and sanitation components.
- Proven track record with donors (e.g., UNICEF, World Bank, GF) and complex implementation timelines.
- Strong technical proficiency in hydraulic design, pipelines, pumping, hydraulics, and low-cost treatment options.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills; fluency in English; knowledge of local languages a plus.
- Proficient in project management tools, M&E frameworks, and GIS/ Spatial analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and ability to work in resource-constrained environments.
