XYZ Media Group is seeking a dynamic and versatile Staff Journalist to join our New York newsroom. The ideal candidate blends strong reporting instincts with the ability to craft engaging stories for multiple platforms and audiences.
In this role you will own a mix of breaking news coverage, feature writing and investigative reporting. You will collaborate with editors, photographers and digital producers to publish accurate, compelling journalism that informs, enlightens and entertains.

Responsibility
- Research, report, and write accurate, fair and compelling stories for daily and online publication across print, online and social channels.
- Develop and nurture reliable sources; conduct interviews; verify information with data and documents.
- Meet tight deadlines while maintaining high journalistic standards and clarity.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, videographers and data journalists to produce multi format pieces.
- Pitch story ideas, produce long form features and contribute to investigative reporting when appropriate.
- Edit and fact check fellow reporters; ensure adherence to AP style and newsroom ethics.
- Monitor trends and breaking news, providing timely updates and follow up reporting.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of newsroom reporting experience with published clips.
- Ability to report under pressure, manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills; strong command of AP style.
- Experience with digital publishing platforms, CMS and basic web analytics; familiarity with SEO best practices.
- Multimedia skills are a plus: photography, video, podcasting or data visualization.
- Commitment to ethical journalism and accuracy; ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
