Job description

Atlas Geospatial Solutions is seeking a disciplined Survey Field Technician to join our Houston-based team. You will be on-site collecting precise geospatial data, supporting land development, infrastructure, and environmental projects. This role blends fieldwork with drafting responsibilities, offering a clear path to professional growth and licensure support.

As a member of our surveying group, you’ll collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field crews to deliver accurate, compliant surveys on schedule and within budget.

Responsibility

    \n
  • Conduct field surveys using GNSS, total stations, prism control, and digital data collectors to capture high-accuracy geospatial data.
  • \n
  • Prepare and maintain field notes, sketches, plat sketches, and survey deliverables for QA/QC and client review.
  • \n
  • Execute boundary, topographic, right-of-way, construction staking, and utility surveys for residential, commercial, and public works projects.
  • \n
  • Manage survey control networks, establish and maintain control points, and ensure data integrity and compliance with project specifications.
  • \n
  • Prepare CAD drawings and GIS data exports (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS) and assist with 3D modeling and drafting tasks.
  • \n
  • Support permitting, right-of-way acquisitions, and coordination with clients, subcontractors, and regulators as needed.
  • \n
  • Maintain field equipment, calibrations, safety standards, and inventory; perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

Qualification

    \n
  • Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • \n
  • 2+ years of field surveying experience; Licensed Professional Surveyor (PLS) preferred or in progress.
  • \n
  • Proficiency with GNSS (RTK), total stations, data collectors, and field data management.
  • \n
  • Experience with CAD and GIS software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Trimble Business Center).
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of boundary law, topographic surveying, staking, and construction surveying.
  • \n
  • Excellent math, data analysis, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • \n
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and ability to travel to field sites; occasional overnight stays possible.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and safety-conscious mindset.
