Job description
We are seeking a results driven Water and Sanitation Specialist to join our team in Nairobi. This role leads planning, design and delivery of WASH projects that improve access to safe water and sanitation services for underserved communities. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, field experience and a passion for public health.
As a member of our program team you will work with government, NGOs and community stakeholders to ensure interventions are sustainable, scalable and compliant with donor requirements. You will oversee monitoring, reporting and knowledge management to drive continuous improvement and impact.
Responsibilities include managing project life cycles, ensuring quality and safety, and building partner capacity. You will use data to inform decision making and advocate for resources that improve water security and sanitation outcomes.
Responsibility
- Lead end to end management of water supply and sanitation projects from needs assessment through handover
- Develop technical designs, specifications and implementation plans for WASH interventions
- Monitor project progress, track budgets and ensure value for money
- Coordinate with government agencies, donors and community groups
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, safety standards and donor requirements
- Oversee water quality testing, system operations and maintenance planning
- Prepare progress reports, dashboards and knowledge products for stakeholders
Qualification
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in water and sanitation programs
- Experience with WASH programs and donor funded projects
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills; proficient in GIS
- Project management certification or demonstrated PM experience
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and cross cultural teamwork
- Fluency in English and local language; willingness to travel
