Join AquaNova International, a leading environmental engineering firm focused on sustainable water and sanitation solutions across Africa and beyond. We are seeking a results-driven Water & Sanitation Engineer to lead end-to-end projects from planning to execution.
You will design, implement, and monitor drinking water supply, wastewater management, and sanitation systems in urban and rural settings. You will collaborate with municipal authorities, NGOs, and communities to deliver reliable, affordable, and climate-resilient water services.
Key focus areas include hydraulic modeling, pipe network design, water quality management, contractors coordination, data-driven monitoring, and compliance with national standards.
Responsibility
- Lead design and implementation of water supply, sanitation, and wastewater projects from concept to handover.
- Conduct hydraulic analysis, network modeling, and pilot projects to optimize system performance.
- Develop technical specifications, Bill of Quantities, and tender documents; oversee procurement and contractor management.
- Manage field investigations, data collection, water quality sampling, and environmental safeguards.
- Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and communities; ensure stakeholder engagement and social inclusion.
- Monitor project progress, budget, risks, and schedule; ensure compliance with national standards and donor requirements.
- Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and capacity-building plans for local teams.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Water Resources; master's preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in WASH projects, water supply, sanitation, wastewater, and infrastructure development.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license / charter or equivalent accreditation.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling (EPANET, WaterCAD, InfoWater) and GIS tools.
- Strong knowledge of national and international WASH sector standards and policies.
- Excellent stakeholders management, communication, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work in field conditions, travel to rural/urban project sites; fluency in English; knowledge of local language is a plus.
- Project management and budget oversight experience.
