Responsibility
- Plan and execute daily field operations across multiple crop cycles, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, and weed management.
- Monitor soil moisture, nutrient levels, and environmental conditions; adjust irrigation schedules using sensors, meters, and GIS data.
- Lead and document compliance with safety, labor, and environmental regulations; ensure proper PPE and incident reporting.
- Maintain farm equipment, perform routine maintenance, and manage supply inventory and fuel usage.
- Collect, analyze agronomic data, and prepare actionable reports for farm leadership to optimize yields and resource use.
- Implement integrated pest management strategies; apply approved products following label directions and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with agronomists, researchers, and extension services to test innovations and scale successful practices.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field; or equivalent practical experience in field operations.
- 2+ years of hands-on field experience in crop production, greenhouse, or open-field farming; knowledge of drip and micro-sprinkler irrigation systems preferred.
- Strong data literacy with ability to work with sensors, data loggers, Excel/Sheets, and basic data visualization.
- Experience with integrated pest management and safe handling of pesticides; willingness to obtain or maintain applicable certifications.
- Proficient operation of farm equipment (tractors, sprayers, harvesters) and a valid driver’s license; ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work outdoors in variable weather and seasons.
- Fluent English; Spanish language skills and experience with diverse teams a plus.
