NovaQuant Analytics is seeking a highly motivated Applied Mathematician to join our interdisciplinary research team in Cambridge, MA. This full-time role focuses on advancing theory and computation in applied mathematics, data science, and optimization.
In this position you will develop mathematical models, implement numerical algorithms, and collaborate with data scientists and engineers to translate theory into practical, scalable solutions. Responsibility
- Develop and analyze mathematical models for real-world problems in data science, finance, and scientific computing.
- Design, implement, and optimize numerical methods using Python, Julia, or MATLAB.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate theoretical insights into deployable algorithms.
- Conduct rigorous validation, benchmarking, and uncertainty quantification of models and simulations.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed venues and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor graduate students, interns, and junior researchers; contribute to grant proposals and competitive funding efforts.
Qualification
- PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or an MS with a strong research record.
- Strong expertise in numerical analysis, optimization, probability or statistics, and applications to data-driven problems.
- Proficiency in Python (NumPy/SciPy), MATLAB, and Julia; experience with machine learning libraries is a plus.
- Experience with high-performance computing, code optimization, and reproducible research practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated research impact through publications, conference presentations, or equivalent outputs; ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
