NovaQuant Analytics invites applications for an Applied Mathematics Research Scientist to join our modeling and algorithm development team in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will apply advanced mathematical theory to real-world data science challenges, including predictive modeling, optimization, and numerical simulation. As a member of our research group, you will design and analyze mathematical models, implement robust numerical methods, and translate theoretical insights into scalable solutions for customers across finance, biotech, and tech domains.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and analysis of mathematical models for complex systems using data-driven and mechanistic approaches.
- Develop and optimize numerical algorithms with attention to accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to deploy models into production environments.
- Interpret results, communicate insights to stakeholders, and drive decision-making with rigorous quantitative evidence.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed venues and present at internal and external forums.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to the team's research strategy and roadmap.
- Maintain reproducible research workflows, documentation, and code quality standards.
Qualification
- PhD in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a closely related field; or a Master's degree with a strong research track record.
- Strong background in mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, optimization, and stochastic processes.
- Proficiency in Python (NumPy/SciPy), MATLAB or Julia; experience with R is a plus.
- Experience with high-performance computing, parallel computing, or GPU acceleration.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and publish results.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
