Diamond H Marine Services & Shipping Agency Inc, a trusted partner for Bulk Carrier and General Cargo Coaster trades, is looking for a highly capable Chief Engineer (or Single Engineer) to join our operations in Manila. This leadership role directs the engine department, ensuring vessel reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across our fleet.
As the Chief Engineer, you will oversee day-to-day engine room operations, supervise engineers and rated crew, and drive preventive maintenance programs for main propulsion, auxiliary machinery, electrical systems, and boilers. You will lead voyage readiness planning, monitor fuel efficiency, manage spares inventory, and coordinate with shipyards for overhauls, dry-docking, and repairs. You will also champion ISM Code implementation, SOLAS, MARPOL compliance, and safety management onboard, conducting training and drills for crew members and ensuring near-miss and incident reporting is thorough and timely.

Responsibility
- Oversee day-to-day engine room operations and maintenance across assigned vessels, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
- Lead, train, and supervise the engine room crew, manage watchkeeping duties, and optimize manpower allocation.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for main propulsion, auxiliary systems, pumps, boilers, generators, and electrical systems.
- Ensure full regulatory compliance with ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and flag state requirements; drive safety culture and incident investigations.
- Plan voyage readiness, monitor fuel consumption, ballast water management, and performance optimization for cost-effective operations.
- Manage spares inventory, procurement, budgeting, and coordination with suppliers and shipyards for repairs and overhauls.
- Maintain meticulous technical records, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation; prepare reports for management and authorities.
- Collaborate with masters, port agents, and company leadership to resolve technical issues and support safe vessel operations.
Qualification
- Valid Philippine seafarer license as Chief Engineer (Unlimited) or equivalent engine-room leadership certification; proven track record on bulk carriers or general cargo coaster trades.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in engine room management, with hands-on expertise in main propulsion, auxiliary systems, boilers, and electrical power distribution.
- Strong knowledge of ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and safety management systems; ability to lead audits and training.
- Demonstrated leadership and people-management skills; ability to train, mentor, and supervise multi-national crews.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills; capable of clear technical reporting and liaison with port authorities and stakeholders.
- Willingness to relocate to Manila or travel to vessels as required; physically fit to meet medical requirements for seafaring service.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software, spare parts control, and performance analysis; working knowledge of data-driven optimization.
- Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
