Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end planning, budgeting, and execution of forestry projects with a focus on sustainability, compliance, and safety.
- Coordinate field operations, contractors, and procurement to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
- Utilize GIS and remote sensing tools to map stands, assess biomass, and monitor silvicultural treatments.
- Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee timber harvest planning and non-timber forest product assessments in accordance with local laws.
- Manage risk assessments, environmental impact analyses, and mitigation strategies.
- Foster strong community and indigenous partner relationships, ensuring transparent communication and inclusive decision-making.
- Mentor junior staff and support ongoing training in best practices for sustainable forest management.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Geomatics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of project management or field forestry experience.
- Strong knowledge of silvicultural practices, timber cruising, and stand-level planning.
- Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data analysis software; familiarity with remote sensing is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and contracts while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Willingness to travel regionally and perform field inspections as needed.
