TerraNova Geoscience, a forward-thinking geological consulting firm, is seeking a motivated Field Geologist to join our Denver team. This role emphasizes field mapping, sample collection, and data integration for mining, geotechnical, and groundwater projects.
As part of our team, you will conduct rigorous fieldwork, contribute to technical reports, and collaborate with exploration geologists, engineers, and environmental specialists to deliver actionable insights for clients.
Responsibility
- Perform field-based geological mapping and stratigraphic logging in mining, exploration, or groundwater projects.
- Collect sample materials (rock, soil, water) and document lithology, structure, and alteration with standardized field notes.
- Maintain accurate field data via field notebooks and digital devices; ensure data quality and traceability.
- Interpret geological data and contribute to geologic maps, cross-sections, and mineralogical assessments.
- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, and project managers to design field strategy and contingencies.
- Prepare concise field reports and assist in the preparation of technical deliverables tailored for clients.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards; promote environmentally sound field practices.
- Support ongoing research and case studies, including GIS data integration and rock sample lab workflows.
Qualification
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 1-4 years of field geology experience in mineral exploration, mining, or geotechnical projects.
- Strong knowledge of rock types, structures, stratigraphy, and geologic mapping techniques.
- Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS) and basic data analysis; experience with geospatial data is a plus.
- Experience with field equipment, logging, sampling, and data management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to generate clear technical reports and presentations.
- Ability to operate in physically demanding field conditions; valid driver’s license; ability to travel as needed.
- Applicants authorized to work in the United States; willingness to relocate to Denver preferred.
