Responsibility
- Oversee daily livestock care for cattle and sheep, ensuring clean water, balanced rations, clean housing, and welfare-focused handling.
- Plan and implement breeding programs, monitor reproductive performance, and coordinate with veterinary partners for health care and vaccination schedules.
- Manage feed procurement, inventory, storage, and budget adherence to optimize cost and performance.
- Supervise farm staff, schedule work shifts, provide coaching, and conduct performance reviews.
- Maintain accurate records using farm management software, including inventory, production metrics, and animal health data.
- Enforce biosecurity, sanitation, and safety protocols to protect animals and workers.
- Monitor animal welfare indicators and respond rapidly to health concerns, including coordinating with local extension services as needed.
Qualification
- 5+ years of hands-on livestock farming experience, with cattle and sheep preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, reproduction, vaccination, and parasite control.
- Proven leadership and people management skills; ability to train and motivate a diverse team.
- Proficiency with farm management software and basic data analysis; strong record-keeping abilities.
- Experience operating farm equipment (tractors, feeders, scales) and a valid driver's license.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and varying hours during peak seasons; degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
