Emerald Pastures Ltd. is seeking a proactive Livestock Farm Manager to lead daily operations on our diversified cattle and sheep unit near Dublin. Responsibility
- Oversee daily care of cattle and sheep, ensuring high welfare standards and comfortable living conditions.
- Develop and implement feeding strategies, vaccination schedules, and health monitoring plans.
- Coordinate breeding programs, calving/lambing, and genetic performance tracking.
- Lead a small farm team, schedule shifts, train new staff, and promote safe operational practices.
- Maintain accurate farm records, inventories, and compliance documentation for audits.
- Monitor biosecurity measures and implement risk controls to prevent disease spread.
- Optimize housing, pasture management, and water systems to maximize productivity and sustainability.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, suppliers, and extension services to ensure timely interventions.
Qualification
- Bachelor or diploma in agriculture, animal science, or a related field; equivalent hands-on farm experience considered.
- Proven experience managing livestock operations, preferably in cattle or sheep farming.
- Strong knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity, nutrition, and health surveillance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; capable of training staff and coordinating teams.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, lift moderate weights, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Proficiency with farm record software and basic data analysis; willingness to adopt new tech and processes.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel for veterinary visits or supplier meetings as needed.
