Job description

Prairie Crest Farms is seeking a results-driven Livestock Farm Manager to lead daily operations on our multi-species operation in Davenport, Iowa. You will oversee herd health, nutrition, staff, and compliance to maintain top-quality livestock production.

Responsibility

  • Oversee day-to-day management of cattle and swine operations, ensuring welfare, nutrition, and productive lactation cycles.
  • Develop and monitor feeding programs, inventory, and storage of feed and medications.
  • Lead, train, and supervise farm workers; schedule shifts; ensure safe operation of equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor herd health, vaccination schedules, disease prevention, and biosecurity protocols; coordinate with veterinarians.
  • Maintain accurate records on production, feed, medications, and maintenance; prepare reports for senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including animal welfare and worker safety.
  • Manage budgeting, cost controls, and vendor relationships to optimize farm profitability.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of livestock farming management or farm supervision experience.
  • Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, welfare, and biosecurity.
  • Experience with farm equipment (tractors, feeders, automated systems) and basic maintenance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people-management skills; ability to train and motivate staff.
  • Excellent record-keeping, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to work flexible hours, including weekends/evenings as needed.
