Job description

Prairie Crest Farms is seeking an experienced Livestock Farm Manager to oversee day-to-day operations, ensure animal welfare, optimize production, and lead a small team on our mixed-species ranch near Amarillo, Texas.

Responsibility

  • Oversee daily livestock operations, including feeding, watering, housing, and health monitoring across applicable species.
  • Lead, train, and supervise a small team of farmhands; ensure safety and productivity on site.
  • Implement herd health programs, vaccination schedules, parasite control, and biosecurity measures.
  • Monitor and optimize feed rations, nutrition, and pasture rotation for welfare and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of births, treatments, sales, and production metrics; generate weekly and monthly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards, environmental regulations, and food safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with farm owners on breeding plans, equipment maintenance, and facility improvements.

Qualification

  • 3+ years of livestock farming management or equivalent leadership experience on a farm or ranch.
  • Strong knowledge of animal welfare, health monitoring, vaccination protocols, and biosecurity.
  • Proven ability to manage records, inventories, and crop/stock metrics; experience with farm management software.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather; physically fit to perform demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license; experience operating tractors and basic farm equipment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills; ability to work with owners and staff.
