Responsibility
- Oversee daily livestock care including feeding, housing, bedding, and humane handling to maintain herd welfare and productivity.
- Develop and implement herd health plans in collaboration with veterinarians and nutritionists to minimize disease risk and optimize performance.
- Monitor feed programs, water systems, and housing conditions to ensure efficiency and animal well-being.
- Lead and mentor farm staff; manage scheduling, training, safety, and performance feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of animals, treatments, production metrics, and inventory using farm management software.
- Ensure strict biosecurity measures and compliance with safety and welfare standards across all operations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, manage procurement, and oversee equipment maintenance and repairs.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, or related field; equivalent hands-on experience considered.
- 3+ years of livestock farming experience; dairy or beef cattle preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, vaccination protocols, and welfare standards.
- Proven leadership, team-building, and training abilities with a collaborative mindset.
- Proficient with farm management software and solid record-keeping skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
- Willingness to adapt to seasonal peaks and varied hours; valid driver’s license required.
