PrairieGlen Farms is seeking an experienced Livestock Farm Manager to lead our Des Moines area operation. This hands-on, strategic role oversees daily animal care, welfare, and production across our cattle and swine facilities. You will partner with a cross-functional team to optimize feed efficiency, health protocols, and overall farm performance. As Farm Manager, you will:
- Lead day-to-day livestock management including feeding schedules, water supply, and housing cleanliness.
- Implement and monitor biosecurity, vaccination, and herd health protocols to minimize disease risk.
- Manage breeding programs, record keeping, and production metrics to maximize throughput.
- Supervise farm personnel, schedule shifts, coach safety practices, and ensure compliance with labor laws.
- Oversee inventory of feed, medications, equipment, and facility supplies; manage budget and waste control.
- Maintain accurate records using farm management software and generate weekly performance reports.
- Coordinate with veterinarians, extension agents, and suppliers to maintain high welfare standards.

Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on livestock farming and supervisory experience.
- Solid knowledge of animal nutrition, welfare standards, and biosecurity.
- Proficiency in data entry and farm management software; strong Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather.
- Valid driver's license; experience operating farm equipment preferred.
