BlueHarvest Livestock Farms is seeking a results-driven Livestock Farm Manager to lead day-to-day operations on our progressive cattle operation in Davis, California. The ideal candidate combines hands-on animal care with strong leadership and operational planning to maximize welfare, productivity, and profitability. As Farm Manager, you will oversee animal housing, feeding, health monitoring, breeding programs, pasture management, and staff supervision, while ensuring compliance with animal welfare and safety standards.
Responsibility
- Oversee daily livestock care and welfare across cattle ops, ensuring clean housing, proper feeding, and disease prevention.
- Develop and implement feeding schedules, stocking densities, and breeding programs to optimize productivity.
- Manage herd health programs, vaccinations, parasite control, and meticulous record keeping.
- Lead a small team of farm workers, including training, scheduling, performance reviews, and ensuring a safe work environment.
- Monitor farm infrastructure and equipment; coordinate preventive maintenance and timely repairs.
- Maintain comprehensive records using digital farm management tools; analyze KPIs such as weight gain, milk yield, and feed efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, welfare standards, biosecurity, and workplace safety; implement risk mitigation strategies.
Qualification
- 3+ years of livestock farming experience; cattle or dairy experience preferred; prior farm management is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of livestock nutrition, vaccination schedules, biosecurity, and welfare protocols.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills with the ability to train and motivate staff.
- Excellent record-keeping and data-driven decision-making; proficiency with farm management software.
- Physical stamina, ability to lift objects, and willingness to work early mornings and weekends; valid driver's license.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and safety mindset; capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently.
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
