In this role you will oversee cattle and sheep operations, manage grazing and water systems, coordinate feed logistics, monitor health, and supervise a team of farm workers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in livestock farming, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for sustainable agriculture.
Responsibility
- Oversee daily livestock operations across cattle and sheep, ensuring welfare and compliance with standards.
- Plan and manage pastures, fencing, water systems, and rotational grazing to optimize forage use.
- Monitor animal health, administer routine care, and coordinate veterinary services as needed.
- Coordinate feed inventory, formulation, storage, and delivery to maintain consistent nutrition.
- Lead, train, and supervise farm staff, scheduling shifts and ensuring safe operating practices.
- Implement strict biosecurity, sanitation, and record-keeping protocols to prevent disease.
- Track performance metrics, budgets, and production goals; report results to management.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, welfare guidelines, and environmental standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, animal science, or 2+ years farm management experience.
- Proven track record managing multi-species livestock operations with a focus on welfare.
- Strong knowledge of animal health, nutrition, vaccination, and preventive care.
- Experience with pasture management, fencing, water systems, and facilities maintenance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to manage teams in rural settings.
- Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping, budgeting, and compliance abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends during peak seasons; valid driver's license; clean background.
- Physical stamina for fieldwork and ability to operate farm equipment as needed.
