Responsibility

  • Oversee daily museum operations including visitor services, security, facilities maintenance, and risk management to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Lead a diverse team of operations, guest services, and facilities staff; set performance expectations and support professional development.
  • Plan and manage annual budgets, procurement, and vendor contracts while optimizing resources and reducing costs.
  • Coordinate collections handling, storage, and exhibition logistics in collaboration with curatorial staff to ensure preservation standards.
  • Develop and implement visitor programming, accessibility initiatives, and community engagement to expand audience reach.
  • Ensure compliance with museum standards, health and safety regulations, and data protection requirements across all operations.
  • Lead risk assessment, emergency response planning, and incident reporting to maintain a secure facility.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives and donor/funder reporting for sustainability.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Arts Administration, Business, or related field; master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in museum operations or cultural institution management.
  • Proven track record in budgeting, facilities management, and vendor negotiation.
  • Strong knowledge of collections handling standards, preservation, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with curators, educators, and partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement inclusive programs and accessibility initiatives.
  • Proficiency with museum management software, CRM, and data reporting; familiarity with emergency planning.
