FairPlay Referee Services is expanding our pool of professional referees for local and regional football matches across London. We seek confident, fair, and physically fit officials to ensure safe, competitive games and uphold the highest standards of sport integrity. This is a part-time opportunity with flexible schedules, ideal for active individuals already working in sports or coaching roles.
As a referee, you will manage match flow, apply laws consistently, communicate decisions clearly, and maintain control of the game with composure and professionalism. Training and ongoing development provided.
Responsibility
- Officiate assigned football matches in accordance with the laws of the game and competition rules.
- Manage match timing, stoppage time, and restart procedures to ensure fair play.
- Communicate decisions clearly to players, coaches, and match officials; de-escalate conflicts with professionalism.
- Prioritize player safety, assess on-field incidents, and enforce disciplinary measures as needed.
- Collaborate with assistant referees and fourth officials to maintain match flow.
- Prepare accurate match reports and incident logs within required deadlines.
- Engage in ongoing training and certification refreshers to uphold high officiating standards.
Qualification
- Minimum age 18 with eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
- Certified referee with a recognized governing body (eg FA, FIFA/UEFA badges) or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of the laws of the game and consistent decision-making ability.
- Excellent communication, impartiality, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Physical fitness to keep pace with play and stand for long periods; reliable and punctual.
- Availability for weekend and evening matches; flexible scheduling preferred.
- Experience officiating at local leagues or youth/grassroots competitions is a plus.
