We are seeking a Senior Agronomist to lead field research, optimize crop production strategies, and drive data-driven decisions that improve profitability and environmental stewardship.

Responsibility

  • Design, oversee, and evaluate field trials for row crops and specialty crops from planning to data analysis.
  • Develop agronomic recommendations for irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management, and soil health improvements.
  • Collaborate with breeders, extension services, and production teams to translate research into practical grower guidelines.
  • Analyze yield and quality data to optimize production systems and minimize environmental footprint.
  • Manage data collection, analysis, reporting, and the creation of standard operating procedures for trials.
  • Lead budget planning, scheduling, and coordination of field staff and contractors to ensure timely execution.
  • Provide technical support to sales and on-site demonstrations with growers and field days.

Qualification

  • Advanced degree in agronomy, crop science, soil science, or a related field; PhD preferred.
  • 5+ years of hands-on field agronomy, crop production, or research experience.
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation management, nutrient management, pest/disease control, soil health, and data analytics.
  • Experience with experimental design and statistics (R, SAS, Python) and interpreting agronomic data.
  • Proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing field trials on time and budget.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with growers, researchers, and internal teams.
  • Willingness to travel within the Central Coast region and occasional overnight travel.
