Responsibility
- Lead and execute high-quality character animation for 2D/3D projects, ensuring timing, pose, and performance align with the director's vision.
- Collaborate with directors and department leads on shot planning, reviews, and iterative feedback.
- Develop and refine animation rigs, weights, and skinning with rigging and modeling teams to support character movement.
- Own animation pipelines and maintain consistency with art direction, production schedules, and deliverables.
- Mentor junior animators, provide constructive feedback, and share best practices across the team.
- Block, animate, and polish sequences from blocking to final render with attention to storytelling and emotion.
- Partner with lighting and compositor teams to ensure the final look matches creative intent.
Qualification
- 5+ years of professional animation experience in film, television, or game development with a strong reel demonstrating character performance.
- Expert proficiency in Maya (or Blender) and a solid understanding of rigging, weight painting, and deformation.
- Deep understanding of timing, acting, and character expression; ability to adapt to varied art directions.
- Experience collaborating with directors, production teams, and layout to plan shots and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentorship skills; proven ability to lead by example.
- Familiarity with Python scripting or pipeline tools is a plus; knowledge of shading and rendering workflows is beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree in Animation, Visual Effects, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
