NovaAnalytics Labs is a leading analytics company applying statistics to real-world business challenges. We are seeking a Senior Applied Statistician to join our Cambridge, MA team. This role blends rigorous statistical practice with a bias for practical impact, working across product, operations, and clinical/commercial interfaces.
As a Senior Applied Statistician, you will partner with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to turn data into decisions, build robust models, and ensure quality in every analytic deliverable.
Responsibility
- Develop, validate, and maintain advanced statistical and probabilistic models to inform product strategy and operational decisions.
- Design and analyze experiments and observational studies, performing power analyses and sample size planning.
- Prepare data pipelines and analyses using R, Python, and SQL; ensure reproducibility and code quality.
- Monitor model performance in production, implementing retraining strategies and performance dashboards.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data quality, governance, and accessibility for analytics projects.
- Communicate complex statistical concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders with clear visuals and actionable recommendations.
- Mentor junior statisticians and contribute to internal training and best-practice documentation.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives, including experimental design for A/B tests and new measurement approaches.
Qualification
- Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of applied statistics experience in industry, healthcare, tech, or finance.
- Proficiency in R and Python (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn); experience with SAS or SQL is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of experimental design, hypothesis testing, regression modeling, and Bayesian methods.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or ggplot2) and communicating results to stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and version control (Git); strong emphasis on reproducibility and documentation.
- Authorization to work in the United States or eligible for work authorization; willingness to relocate to Cambridge, MA.
