Job description

PulseGrid Energy is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Engineer to lead design and implementation across utility-scale projects, industrial facilities, and grid modernization initiatives. This role combines hands-on engineering with cross-functional leadership to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient electrical power systems.

Key focus areas include power system studies, protective relay schemes, medium- and high-voltage distribution, and integration of renewables. You will collaborate with project managers, electrical designers, and field teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

We offer a dynamic work environment, competitive compensation, and opportunities for career growth in a market-leading energy company.

Responsibility

  • Lead electrical power system design for medium- and high-voltage projects, including protection and control schemes.
  • Conduct power system studies (short-circuit, load flow, protection coordination) using ETAP, SKM, or PowerFactory.
  • Develop, review, and approve one-line diagrams, cable routing, grounding, and switchgear specifications.
  • Design and validate protective relay settings, SCADA interfaces, and communication protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with IEEE, NEC NFPA 70E, and client standards; perform design reviews and QA documentation.
  • Collaborate with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to support project execution and handover.
  • Mentor junior engineers, lead technical risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement in design delivery.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of electrical power engineering experience in utility, industrial, or EPC environments.
  • Strong proficiency in power system studies and protection relays (e.g., SEL, GE, Siemens) and control systems.
  • Experience with ETAP, SKM, PowerFactory, AutoCAD Electrical, and Revit for electrical design and documentation.
  • Solid knowledge of IEEE standards, NFPA 70E, NEC, and relevant codes; excellent documentation and reporting skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management abilities; demonstrated leadership of multi-discipline teams.
  • Eligible for Texas PE license or able to obtain license; willingness to travel as required.
