Responsibility
- Lead the design and modeling of electrical power systems (transmission, distribution, substation components).
- Develop equipment specifications for switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and communication systems.
- Perform power system studies (load flow, short-circuit, arc flash, protection coordination) using ETAP/PSS/E/DIgSILENT/S KM.
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, IEC, NERC, and local codes; produce basis of design documents and technical reports.
- Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and control engineers; coordinate with clients and vendors to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior engineers; participate in proposal development and client presentations.
- Review and approve drawings, one-line diagrams, and interconnection studies; support commissioning and start-up activities.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred; PE license in Texas or ability to obtain
- 5+ years of experience in electrical power systems design, protection, and grid interconnection
- Proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT, SKM or equivalent software
- Strong knowledge of switchgear, transformers, HV/LV equipment, relay protection, and coordination
- Familiarity with standards such as IEEE 519/ C37, IEC 61850, NERC CIP
- Excellent written and verbal communication; proven project management and client-facing skills
- Ability to lead teams, manage multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality results
- Willingness to travel up to 15% as required
