Join Continua History Institute as a Senior Historian & Research Lead. We are seeking a seasoned historian to drive archival and scholarly projects, publish impactful work, and guide a dynamic research team. This full-time role offers opportunities to shape public history initiatives, collaborate with museums and universities, and contribute to grant-funded programs.
As a key member of our scholarly team, you will design and execute research agendas, ensure rigorous historiography, and translate complex historical insights into engaging public content.
Responsibility
- Lead independent and collaborative historical research projects across eras and regions.
- Manage and mentor researchers and interns; oversee timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Develop research proposals, secure funding, manage budgets, and report outcomes.
- Conduct primary source research in archives; evaluate sources; ensure rigorous historiography.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and create accessible public history content (digital narratives, exhibitions).
- Collaborate with museums, universities, and community groups to design programs and interpretive materials.
- Curate digital archives; oversee metadata quality and digital preservation strategies.
- Present research at conferences and represent the institute in public forums.
Qualification
- PhD in History or a relevant field or MA with a strong scholarly publication record.
- 5+ years of research experience in academic, museum, or public history settings.
- Deep expertise in historiography, archival research, and handling primary sources.
- Proven ability to lead projects and teams; grant writing and budgeting experience.
- Proficiency with digital humanities tools (text analysis, GIS, data curation).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.
