HarborTech Industries is seeking a seasoned Senior Industrial Relations Specialist to guide enterprise-wide labor relations, compliance, and policy initiatives across manufacturing sites in the Chicago area. This role partners with HR, operations leaders, and union representatives to foster constructive relationships, resolve disputes, and drive performance.
As a strategic advisor, you will shape labor relations strategy, lead negotiations, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and company values. We offer a fast-paced environment with opportunities for impact, growth, and cross-functional leadership.
Responsibility
- Lead and manage collective bargaining processes, negotiations, and contract administration in collaboration with union representatives.
- Develop and implement labor relations strategies that support business goals while mitigating risk and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
- Provide guidance to HR and operations on discipline, grievances, arbitrations, and dispute resolution with timely, practical solutions.
- Monitor changes to labor legislation and regulatory developments; communicate impact to leadership and implement policy updates.
- Partner with site leaders to drive continuous improvement in workforce relations, safety culture, and productivity.
- Coordinate with payroll, benefits, and compliance teams to ensure accurate interpretation and application of CBA terms.
- Prepare reports and analytics on labor relations metrics; present findings to executive stakeholders and Human Resources leadership.
- Support training programs for managers on discipline, performance management, and labor relations best practices.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in labor or industrial relations within manufacturing or heavy industry.
- Proven track record leading collective bargaining, contract administration, and union negotiations.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. labor laws (NLRB, NLRA, FMLA, OSHA) and compliance frameworks.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills; able to influence at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable policy improvements.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and travel up to 20% as needed.
