You will lead model development, validate forecast outputs, and translate complex meteorological results into clear, actionable insights. The successful candidate will mentor junior scientists and collaborate with product teams to deliver high-impact weather solutions.

Responsibility

  • Lead development, calibration, and verification of high-resolution numerical weather prediction models for short- to medium-range forecasts.
  • Oversee model evaluation, uncertainty quantification, and communication of forecast confidence to clients and stakeholders.
  • Design and implement data workflows integrating observational data, radar, satellite, and model outputs using Python and SQL.
  • Mentor a team of researchers and engineers; provide technical guidance and code reviews.
  • Translate meteorological outputs into decision-support tools and client-ready dashboards.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to shape meteorology-driven solutions for transportation, energy, and agriculture sectors.
  • Present findings to internal leadership and external clients; contribute to white papers and conference presentations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging methods in AI/ML for weather analysis and integrate where appropriate.

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in operational or research meteorology.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, R, MATLAB, or similar data analysis tools; experience with Fortran is a plus.
  • Experience with numerical weather prediction models (e.g., WRF, HRRR) and data assimilation techniques.
  • Solid understanding of statistical methods, uncertainty quantification, and model evaluation metrics.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex meteorological concepts to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
  • Experience with cloud computing (AWS, Azure) and version control (Git); familiarity with containerization is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration, leadership, and project management skills; ability to mentor junior staff.
