Aurora Weather Analytics is seeking a Senior Meteorologist to join our forecast modeling and client-solution team in Seattle, WA. You will lead the development of weather products, advance our numerical weather prediction capabilities, and translate complex data into actionable insights for enterprise clients.
In this role, you will collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and client teams to deliver accurate, timely forecasts and risk assessments that help clients make informed decisions.

Responsibility
- Lead the design and execution of forecast products and operational workflows that support clients across industries.
- Enhance numerical weather prediction (NWP) models and post-processing pipelines to improve forecast skill.
- Analyze observational and model data from satellites, radars, radiosondes, and surface networks to generate senior-level insights.
- Collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to deploy weather analytics tools and APIs for customers.
- Communicate forecast results and risk assessments clearly to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
- Prepare technical reports, validation studies, and performance metrics for internal and external audiences.
- Mentor junior meteorologists and contribute to team growth, training, and knowledge transfer.
Qualification
- Master's degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or a related field; PhD is a plus.
- 5+ years of professional experience in operational forecasting, research, or weather analytics.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one scientific computing platform (R, MATLAB, or Fortran).
- Experience with WRF/ARW, data assimilation, and post-processing of model output.
- Strong data visualization and communication skills with the ability to translate complex results for diverse audiences.
- Experience with GIS tools, cloud-based data workflows, and version control (Git).
- U.S. work authorization and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.
