Join NovaPack Innovations, a leader in premium consumer packaging solutions. We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Packaging Engineer to drive packaging development from concept through launch for a diverse portfolio of SKUs. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Manufacturing teams to deliver packaging that enhances brand value, reduces cost, and supports sustainability goals.
As a key member of our packaging team, you will translate consumer insights into scalable packaging concepts and lead cross-functional initiatives to optimize materials, tooling, and processes while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
Responsibility
- Develop and optimize primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging concepts aligned with cost, performance, and sustainability targets.
- Lead packaging design through concept, prototyping, testing (ISTA, drop and compression tests), and validation with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Manage packaging BOMs, specs, and change control; collaborate with Procurement and Operations to ensure on-time production.
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives (LCC/COGS), material substitutions, and supplier negotiations to meet budget targets.
- Collaborate with Product and Marketing to preserve brand integrity and consumer experience across channels and SKUs.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, packaging safety, and environmental requirements; maintain documentation and traceability.
- Support tooling, line trials, and ramp-up activities; partner with Manufacturing on process optimizations.
- Mentor junior engineers and build scalable packaging design templates and guidelines.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or a related field; MS preferred.
- 5+ years of packaging development experience in consumer goods, with a track record of bringing packaging from concept to production.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials (paperboard, corrugated, films, labels) and conversion processes.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks or similar), BOM/PLM systems, and data-driven decision making.
- Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with sustainability initiatives, recyclability, and regulatory standards (ISTA, ASTM, packaging safety).
- Ability to manage multiple projects, travel as needed, and partner effectively with suppliers and manufacturing sites.
- Strong analytical mindset with cost optimization and supplier negotiation experience.
