Responsibility
- Develop and report original investigative stories across local, national, and international topics
- Pitch, research, verify, and publish reports with strong sourcing and data support
- Verify facts using public records, data analysis, and in depth interviews
- Collaborate with editors, designers, and multimedia teams to craft compelling narratives
- Meet tight deadlines for print, digital, and social platforms
- Uphold newsroom ethics and ensure transparency and accountability
- Mentor junior reporters and interns and contribute to editorial planning
- Fact check and edit manuscripts before publication
Qualification
- Bachelor or higher in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of reporting experience, preferably in investigative journalism
- Proven track record of high impact stories and strong sourcing
- Proficient in data journalism, public records requests, and fact checking
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with strong command of AP style
- Experience with multimedia storytelling including basic video and podcast concepts
- Ability to work flexible hours, including breaking news shifts
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to accuracy
