Join Aurora City Theatre as a Theater Stage Manager and lead backstage operations for a dynamic season of productions in New York City. This full-time role blends creative collaboration with meticulous planning, safety, and leadership. You will work closely with directors, designers, cast, and crew to deliver a seamless run of shows from rehearsal through final curtain.
In this role, you will be the heartbeat of the production: coordinating rehearsals, managing the run of show, and ensuring every cue is executed with precision. Responsibility
- Lead call-to-show leadership, cueing, timing, and safety for all performances.
- Coordinate rehearsal and production schedules; liaise with directors, designers, and production staff.
- Manage backstage workflow, props, set changes, and technical equipment.
- Run the technical rehearsal and premiere, ensuring accurate communication of cues to cast and crew.
- Oversee safety protocols, risk assessments, and adherence to venue regulations and union contracts where applicable.
- Maintain the show bible, production calendar, and post-show notes for ongoing productions.
- Foster clear, professional communication among cast, crew, and artistic leadership.
- Develop contingency plans and promptly troubleshoot issues during performances.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Arts Administration, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of stage management experience in live theatre.
- Proficiency with QLab, Show Cue System, and standard stage management practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and show days.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and experience with union contracts (e.g., IATSE).
- Collaborative, calm under pressure, and highly detail-oriented.
